I can’t believe it’s already spring! I feel like this year has blown by already. I haven’t blogged since Christmas, so I definitely wanted to make sure I gave y’all a proper detailed how-to and display of our family pictures on our stairs!

I searched high and low for the right frames for our stairs to showcase our wedding pictures. I wanted to invest in a piece that could grow with us over time. A lot of you recommended the Smallwoods Home company for family pictures. Although these are great for pictures, they’re not meant to be changed out periodically. They’re a family-owned business and also from Texas, so I hope to support them in years to come. If you’re in a season of life in which you want those memories in a framed wall art piece forever, I highly recommend them.
I decided I wanted actual picture frames for the stairs instead of getting something printed on a canvas. Once we have kids or get family pictures done, I can simply get new images printed and switch them out. This way, if I want to style them differently someplace else, I can. I opted for these IKEA frames after searching Pinterest, Google, and different retailers’ websites. They already come with a mat, so no need to go into a craft store to have one made. I had my actual pictures (20×30) printed at Costco – so inexpensive! With the mat, the dimensions of the frame change to 19 3/4 and 27 1/2. If you get them printed at Costco or a similar place, just know some of your images won’t show with the mat.
I then asked my husband to do the measuring because, quite frankly, he is much better at it than me. Ha! He measured the trajectory and made pencil marks on the wall so that the frames would be even as you walked up the staircase. I love how this project turned out and how it draws the eye upwards as you walk in. It’s a statement piece, for sure. Let me know if you end up trying this at home!
